Scholarship Awards
Education First offers its scholarship program in a select list of participating high schools in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver and Austin. We serve schools that have lower percentages of college applicants.
Seniors from each of the cities' three participating schools compete for the following awards in the 2011/2012 academic year:
- One $8,000 college scholarship that may be used for tuition or books
- One $5,000 honorable mention scholarship that may be used for tuition or books
Students must meet certain eligibility requirements and submit a written application. Select applicants will be invited to participate in an interview with our volunteers. Click here for more details on our application process.
Since 1996, Education First has awarded over $500,000 in scholarships.

Where Are They Now?
I have been extremely busy. I am a full time student at South Seattle Community College currently in my last quarter for my Associates of Arts, which means I am getting ready to apply to universities and decide my major. I work 32 hours a week at ITT Technical Institute in the Career Service Department. It is hard sometimes (as a single mother of two) but I try my best.
